HEC Montréal Unveils Hélène Desmarais Building, a Hub for Learning and Innovation in Downtown Montréal

The Hélène Desmarais Building, located in downtown Montréal, was officially inaugurated on September 15, 2023. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Quebec Premier François Legault, Higher Education Minister Pascale Déry, and numerous dignitaries, partners, and members of the business community. The building is a significant addition to HEC Montréal, a renowned French-language business school in Quebec.

Quebec Premier François Legault expressed his pride in the inauguration of the Hélène Desmarais Building, emphasizing the importance of having a high-level business school in the province. The government has invested $108.5 million in the project to support economic excellence in French and train talented management professionals.

Hélène Desmarais, Chair of the HEC Montréal Board of Directors, highlighted the significance of higher education in fostering innovation, creating wealth, and expanding knowledge. The new building reflects HEC Montréal’s culture of excellence and its mission to make a meaningful contribution to society.

The Hélène Desmarais Building offers a wide range of continuing education programs, focusing on diploma and short-term courses to meet the increasing demand for training in Quebec. The building welcomed its first cohorts in August 2023, and over 3,200 students are expected to attend the 150 different courses offered onsite during the fall term. The building also hosts various programs, including MBA and McGill – HEC Montréal EMBA programs, certificates, Specialized Graduate Diplomas, and Short Graduate Programs.

In addition to its educational offerings, the building houses branches of research groups and centers, facilitating knowledge transfer to companies and organizations. It also includes innovation and start-up incubators and accelerators, as well as a state-of-the-art conference center. The strategic location of the building in the heart of the business ecosystem will encourage collaboration and dialogue among organizations and research teams, addressing social issues and fostering innovation.

The Hélène Desmarais Building is a testament to the commitment of HEC Montréal to provide excellence in education, contribute to Quebec’s socio-economic development, and foster collaboration between academia and the business community.
