McLean-based Iridium Communications, a global satellite communications company, has made a significant move by agreeing to acquire Reston-based Satelles, a provider of satellite-based time and location services. This acquisition, valued at approximately $115 million, marks Iridium’s first foray into expanding its portfolio. Satelles’ Satellite Time and Location (STL) service offers a reliable alternative to GPS-reliant systems, enhancing positioning, navigation, and timing for critical industries.
