Faraday Technology Corporation and Sonix Collaborate on Advanced MCU Solution for Smart Grid and IoT Applications

Faraday Technology Corporation and Sonix have joined forces to introduce a cutting-edge product featuring Sonix’s application-specific MCU chips produced using UMC 40ULP process node. Faraday’s SONOS eFlash subsystem, tailored for edge AI, smart grid, IoT, and MCU applications, has enabled seamless integration of the eFlash function into the SoC without altering existing IP at 40ULP. This logic-process-compatible solution simplifies collaborative IP implementation, reduces complexity in IP porting, and shortens lead times for enhanced cost-effectiveness. The solution also ensures read/write code protection for MCU usage and incorporates BIST for efficient production quality and testing. Faraday’s platform-based design service and Ariel Platform enable concurrent system software development and hardware integration from the early stages, streamlining the overall process.

Flash Lin, COO of Faraday Technology, expressed pride in collaborating with Sonix, a renowned player in consumer ICs, on developing this innovative IC solution. The application-specific MCU aligns well with market demands, positioning Sonix to capitalize on various opportunities. Chris Ko, CEO of Sonix, highlighted the accelerated design and mass-production schedules achieved through collaboration with Faraday. Faraday’s SONOS solution reduced R&D efforts, ensured good chip quality, and yielded satisfactory results, showcasing the successful partnership between the two companies. Faraday’s dedication to benefiting humanity and upholding sustainable values in every IC it handles is evident through its comprehensive range of ASIC solutions and extensive silicon IP portfolio, catering to diverse industry needs.

Faraday Technology Corporation (TWSE: 3035) is committed to delivering innovative ASIC solutions, including total 3DIC packaging, Neoverse CSS design, FPGA-Go-ASIC, and design implementation services. The company’s silicon IP portfolio covers a wide range of offerings, from I/O and Cell Library to ARM-compliant CPUs and SerDes.
